Valentine's Brunch Outfit

Anthropologie Skirt (sold out), Be Good shirt bought secondhand, H&M jacket, H&M Premium Quality shoes

It's Valentine's! While we are trying not to go out as much these days, we wanted to go out for brunch today to celebrate just a little bit, watch some Lost on the couch and cook a nice meal together. We went to Terra Plata in Capitol Hill in Seattle, which call themselves an "earth to plate" concept restaurant. I've eaten there a couple of times earlier and it is always absolutely fabulous. Brunch was good too, especially their bloody mari's are worth a try! This is what I wore today. The skirt is new and it is only the second time I'm wearing it. It is really festive though, especially with heels - which you kind of need for a skirt length like this, as a short person - so I like adding a more relaxed shirt to complement it. I hope you like it!

What did you do for Valentine's?

In my (ZARA) shopping bag

We are currently on a savings month. It's not going to well for us, well at least not for me. We spend to much money on food and beer, too much money on going out with friends and we kind of, at some point, want to grow up, get a house and more pets. Turns out, you need money for that kind of stuff, so that is why we're saving. Luckily, I'm still on my own budget, which is very helpful, as I am a grown-ass adult that makes my own decisions about my money (and the lack of). After successfully avoiding any form of spending money for the past while, I ended up scouring ZARAs website and ended up spending all that money I saved up. In this post I'll show you what is currently on it's way here and in the next post, I'll show you some stuff, that would have ended up in the same place, had I not stopped in time!

I have looked for the perfect light pink coat for years. I am not kidding you, I have bought several and had to return them because the fit was wrong, the color was off or something else just didn't work out. I am really, really excited to find out if I have finally found the one!

Both I - and luckily also my boyfriend - has a thing for colored lacey dresses. This is quirky but cute and I'd wear it both with flats or sneakers for a relaxed look or with heels and accessories for a more polished look.

You know, when you think you were done shopping but then they of course show you that one thing that just have to make it to your shopping bag? This was it. I'm planning on wearing it exactly as in the picture, on the weekend and to the office everyday and with black tights or bare legs and heels for a more festive look.

Anything going in your shopping bag?

New Sandals

I've wanted new sandals for ages! Then finally everything worked out - I had time and a gift card for Salling, and they had a sale and two pairs of sandals to go with it. The blue pair is usually not my color, but it's a happy one and it seems like it'll age beautifully. The Gabor pair is so comfortable and easy to slip into. All stocked up.

Birthday Dress

This is what I wore at my brother's 18 years birthday, as I wrote about yesterday. This is a new dress and it was the first time I wore it. I love how H&M are pretty good at making super weird clothes, because they can afford to take that chance. I always pick up a lot of this stuff on the sales racks -  Apparently I want the things that no one else does. That's fine by me though, because this one is beautiful! The blazer is actually from one of my suits and comes with trousers - It was from the ASOS sales rack too ;) And dammit - I didn't even notice the collar! Typical rookie mistakes

Dress//H&M - not on sale on the website, but in selected stores
Blazer//ASOS - still on sale!
Shoes//Vagabond (not shown. mine's an older model, but these are pretty close!)

White Shirt / Red Lips

This is such a timeless combo to me and always works to lighten your mood, if you're feeling a little bland. In this picture I'm not wearing a classic white shirt, but that would definitely be great to. This shirt has a a more "cowboy" feel to it, I think, with the flower appliqués and sheer gauze panels.

The Black Playsuit

I thought it was great when the whole playsuit thing reappeared a couple of years back. They are great! I'm the type of person that always wears shorts underneath dresses, because I don't want to be worrying about 'showing' all day long - I just want to be able to do whatever I like. Playsuits kind of help this case, which is great about them. This one is a little more of a night-time playsuit, because of the silky quality, lace and open neckline. If I'm wearing it during the day, I'll wear like in the photos, with a black top underneath, but in the night I'll swap that for a lacy bra and maybe a little fastener, to make sure it's not all over the place. I also love that this thing has pockets!

JEWELRY: My Skagen Watch

Yesterday I began my jewelry-series with talking about my Birth Stone Ring from Chinchar/Maloney. As I said, in these posts I'll be talking about my most treasured jewelry and a little bit about it's history and why I like it.

I don't wear a lot of different jewelry and I didn't bring a lot with me when I moved to the US. I normally wear a watch, on or two finger rings and I own a couple of necklaces. I've also recently bought a pair of hoop ear rings, since I don't wear my piercing jewelry anymore, and I'll wear that for extra fancy nights out.

In this post I'll be talking about one of my newer pieces, My Skagen Denmark watch. I received it as a gift for my birthday in April. Or that is, I actually received another watch as a gift, but decided to change it for this one. I never had a problem with returning gifts - and I'm pretty sure people would rather have me get something that I actually love - especially when it is still a watch, from the same store and brand. I showed it to you guys on Instagram immediatly:
I always loved Skagen watches, and I will definitely get another one, if I were to own another watch. No need for that though, these bad-asses have life-time warranty, and they are actually not super-duper expensive. I love the obviously Danish design, I love their use of gemstones and colors and I love, love, how tiny and classic this one is - It goes with everything.

As the ring, I always choose yellow gold, so this is why I chose this one. It is only plated though, and is made from steel. This has a Mother of Pearl dial(Which is super hard to photograph) and the time indicators are made of Swarovski crystals, and it has a little line of crystals at the top and bottom. I think in the US, it is sold as "Luxurious Gold Mesh". The outer ring is so polished that it is almost a mirror. The mesh steel band seemed a little hard at first, but it quickly softened up, and now I never notice that I'm wearing it. It is, so comfortable and PRETTY!

I'm pretty sure this baby is actually on sale in the US right now, if anyone's interested. I like that you can actually buy watches directly from Skagen Denmark in the US, and don't have to go through a retailer!

JEWELRY: My Birth Stone Ring

Since I've had a couple of questions about the jewelry I'm wearing on a daily basis, I thought I'd make a couple of posts, talking about my most treasured jewelry and a little bit about it's history and why I like it.

In this post I'll be talking about my newest acquisition: My Birth Stone Ring from Chinchar/Maloney! It is so new that I'm still super excited about how it works and will probably be talking way too much, ha!

I first saw the jewelry by Chinchar/Maloney on my Instagram Explore (Which I am addicted to).

It is all handmade, they do a lot of custom-made jewelry, and it is a family business, which I always like!! They are also Portland-based, which can almost be considered local (erhm..) Local and small-business/family-business/women-run-business and sustainability is something I treasure!

One of their main sellers is the birth ring, which I really loved the first time I saw it. The ring is personalized, as you choose your favorite color gold and the stones you want to put in it. You can choose based on your birth month - they put a nice little chart for you or based on your favorite colors.

I can imagine many other ways to choose - You and your best friend's birth months for a gift, or put you and your sister's in there for a good gift for your mom. Well, we are three kids, so I'd probably need their 3 birth stones ring, ha!

Well, time came for me to choose and it was hard! I always prefer yellow gold over white, so that wasn't too bad. They also do a rose gold, which I know is becoming super trendy and is super pretty, but the yellow goes with everything I own.

My birth month is April, so I really wanted the white diamond to put in mine. I had such a hard time choosing the other stone! I wanted pink, I wanted peridot or aquamarine! Since I'm over here however, I chose to go with my husky pride and went with the amethyst, which is the prettiest UW purple.

In the beginning I was afraid it would get stuck in anything and everything, especially when putting up my hair, but I have had absolutely no problems with that. To be honest, I haven't taken it off once since I got it - OK, for showering - and it is just there on my finger all nice and shiny and way too pretty.

Dressed as my chair...

It's looks a bit funny, wearing the almost same colors as the chair behind me. Even the shoes/legs!! I love pink after all and some might argue that my apartment is a little too pink. They are wrong! There is no such thing. I wore this out to run some errands over a week ago, but didn't get around to edit them, due to the concussion. I really want to take photographs outside someday - That'd be fun!
The cat thinks she rules the chair, and in some way she rules everything around here. I love her nonetheless ;)

Going to work...

So, I'm soon heading for work at the restaurant. We wear strictly all-black, so I'm just wearing the t-shirt until I get there, and change into my black workshirt. We decide on the rest ourselves, which is really nice, because everyone shows a bit of personality through their clothes then. I just bought these shoes for work, since I like wearing formals. Some wear sandals, protective shoes or Kawasaki. They have a really long cap, which makes my feet look three sizes bigger :p But I think they are fun, elegant and quirky. I love the shirt, which is an H&M gents. They always have great prints! It's a bit too big of course, but worn with tights it doesn't look too bad, I think. It's just rather low-key, now that it is Saturday, and I'm not doing anything special. And of course we dig the J.R.R. Tolkien reference!! ;)

I always wear my hair tied up nicely at work, but still get comments on the locks from our guests. Fortunately they are always polite and positive about it. So many of you asked me if it has been a problem in my work life and I figure I'll do a post on this rather soon, due to the mass of questions regarding this.

I try to wear a nice, natural makeup to work. Of course it is really hot in there and we are busy, so it needs to hold op nicely. I try to focus on brows and I almost always wear nail polish. My favorite for work - and almost everything else - is OPI Malaga Wine. I need to get a new bottle of this!

I'm sorry about the quality of these photos - The sun was setting! I look so much forward to spring and more light!!

Have a nice saturday, whatever you are doing out there :)
