This photo keeps changing before my eyes: One minute I think it is one of my better self portraits, and the next it seems incredibly ugly to me. Lots of technicalities are wrong with it, but I feel something is making up for it(every other minute, that is) Such a harsh and contrasted black and white shows a lot of the minor errors and imperfections in our skin, and I actually decided to oversharpen a bit, to enhance it. It's not that photos are unreal or dishonest normally, but this is a different kind of real and honest.

Living

Nice one

city / desert / citydesert /desertcity

They talk a lot about scale

Opposite

EXT-INT

They are built from a very strange principle. A very modern one. "Sluseholmen" consists of 800 apartments, that all look different on the exterior. Each entrance had their own architect. But on the inside, they are all the same. They are your standard montage-concrete, that we've been using since 1940, and that still reeaaaally do not work. Bricks do not make people happy. But they make investors rich.

Kajak

One great thing about Sluseholmen, though. How many people do you know, that has a private space for their kayaks on their terrasse? Me, not many!

Buildings

We went on a school trip to look at buildings at the harbour. And we are not even studying architecture. This is "Sluseholmen", a very, veryyyy expensive, but rather failing project in the eyes of an urban planner.

It is categorized as inspiration on how cities don't work.

Greeneries

Salmon

This is a wonderful thing to eat on a very nice friday: toasted bread, real butter, cottage cheese and salmon. And please, be nice and try to buy MSC-certified fish, if it's available to you :)

Spring's here!

It's been a while! Finally Spring has arrived around here, and today it was about 15 degrees! Amazing. I'm currently looking for a new place to live, so that's taking some time, along with university and work! I'm going to check out an apartment tomorrow at the waterfront, so nice! I haven't really got anything exciting to post, I think the most activity you'll find, would be on my instagram!(galapril). Today I snapped this of what I wore, first time bare-legged out! Hope to see you soon!

April 1st

Now we should finally be getting to spring, I hope! We've had the coldest March in 26 years in Denmark, and it was freeeeezing. There is still snow on the ground, but I'm really hoping it's done snowing for at least 6 months now! I've spent easter with family and had a really good time! I hope you enjoyed your easter too! Tomorrow I'm going to Copenhagen, our capital, with my university on a trip, and it's gonna be fun! I should really get packing!
Hope you are all good and have a great day!

Eyebrows video!

Movies I like: Documentaries

Yet another chapter! This time for documentaries. I love watching all kinds of documentaries, even the silly low-quality ones about all kinds of weird things(Ok, just between us, I don't have a television, but I love, love TLC) As one of my girlies said: "Bad TV is actually good TV!". I also love watching documentaries about food and nature, which is reflected a bit here, and I'll never back down from any survival or BBC Nature program ;)

Earthlings(2005)
I've mentioned this one before, and I'll do it again. This movie is vile and I hate watching it, because it makes me feel sick - And it should! I hope you'll hold your guts and get through this, because everybody kind of needs to! Available legally for free here: http://earthlings.com/

Ashes and Snow: The Film(2005)
Originally an installation by Canadian artist Gregory Colbert. As far as I learned he's been working on it since 1992 and is the most visited exhibition ever, with more than 10 billion guests. It consists of lots and lots of still photos, a few videos, and a narrator that will say things like: "The whales do not sing because they have an answer. They sing because they have a song". The movie is really spacy, but if you ever have a spare 63 minutes it is really beautiful and worth watching!

Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead(2005)
I was introduced to this recently, and I especially liked the second part of the movie, that surprised me a lot. It should be mentioned that I'm not advocating using this diet, nor never did it myself or anything. I just like the story of how Phil is so unhappy, and decides to do something about it!

Food Inc(2008)
A movie about the American food industry, with a lot of material from one of my favorite authors Michael Pollan. I love talking about maize.

Capitalism: A love story(2009)
It's kind of boring, but you kind of have to watch it.

The Human Scale(2012)
About great cities based on the work by Danish architect Jan Gehl - And actually what we are working with at school right now!

Jiro Dreams of Sushi(2011)
I could watch this countless time - The sushi is absolutely perfect, the movie is perfectly done, the ambiance in the restaurant, the wisdom and the philosophy from both Jiro and his sons and workers. This movie is perfection and it is very clever. Go watch it!(Because I just got an urge to watch it just ooone moooreee tiiimeee)

Movies I like: Populars

I have been asked to showcase a few of the movies I really liked watching/originally reading. This is the first part, and this will contain movies I figured where very popular and known, but also very much worth watching if you ask me. Please note, that I've been told countless times that I have a really bad taste in movies, so don't trust me ;)

    American History X(1998)
A very unpleasant film about racism and how such things are passed through society.

    Forrest Gump(1994)
You all know this one, right? A peculiar and very interesting story about one man's life. It always reminds                me, that "if it's not okay, it's not the end".

    Slumdog Millionaire(2008)
    How it all adds up.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button(2008)
IMDb did a great tagline for this: "Life can only be understood backwards. It must be lived forwards"

    Into the Wild(2007)
I have no words. This is a true story. It is sad how the meaning of the movie is not very apparent until the      very end, but it will all come together. I love this.

    Shawshank Redemption(1994)
"redemption through acts of common decency". You have already seen this, haven't you?

    The Hours(2002)
I actually don't think the movie is very known, but the book it is based on is an absolute classic. It's an     interpretation of the Virginia Woolf "Mrs. Dalloway". Amazing actresses, amazing story. Takes my breath     away. I especially adore the way Nicole Kidman plays Virginia, as seen in the photo.

    Out of Africa(1985)
The filmatization of the book by the Danish author Karen Blixen. I loved the book and the story she tell's     about her life in Africa.

    The Truman Show(1998)
    How big is your world?
